I never paint.

But then the other day I did, a little bit. Will have to try some more.

Acrylic.

Absotively gorgeous!
I love acrylics, but I can't make them look like this. It at least appears that you're using an interesting technique.
Secret secrets!

I used underpainting. First a black canvas, then a grayscale version of the image (just used Titanium white in various thicknesses for that.) Lets you split up the problems of worrying about tone from those of worrying about color. After the tonal image is down, color goes on top. I try to blend the color while the paint's wet; next time I might try mixing a retardant in. Underpainting seems to work well with semi-transparent stuff like acrylic, but apparently the Renaissance cheeses developed it with oil and tempera.

I'm not terribly good at it, and I think I need to spend my time getting better at digital painting instead, but it was a fun exercise.

Haha, wow, that's awesome. Thanks for explaining all that!
I guess you had formal training then?

A bit, with drawing. Not really any with painting. Like I said, I never paint. Uh, but I flip through all the art books...
